Purchasing an ultrasound machine, particularly for budding businesses, can be a daunting and frustrating task. On one hand, even refurbished ultrasounds can be rather costly. On the other, it is very difficult to find an ultrasound at a fair cost (including transducers) that can offer a variety of imaging applications.
Enter the Philips HD 11XE. This unit is capable of nearly every ultrasound exam on the market. Available for a relatively economic cost of $5,500, the HD11xe proves to be a valuable, versatile, and reliable unit.
Popular Imaging Applications:
Cardiac:
Although it is not considered “standard”, as far as the ultrasound package goes, the HD11xe is capable of conducting cardiac, pediatric cardiac, stress echo, and TCD (transcranial doppler) imaging exams.
In order to conduct these exams, certain instillations must be made. Aside from the software / options, one generally needs to instal a cardiac board into the hardware of the unit, and add the stress echo / EKG port. Adding these options to the HD11xe can turn the unit into a highly desirable unit.
Vascular:
The HD11xe is also used for a variety of vascular, sports medicine, pain management, MSK, small parts, and other forms of high frequency imaging. These packages tend to be installed in most systems, and, between the variety of vascular probes and the curved probe, can be quite useful for most vascular applications.
OB-GYN:
While the HD11xe can theoretically conduct 3D images, the imaging quality does not compare to other systems on the market. To be fair, on the other hand, it is the most economical. Other than that, however, the system is quite satisfactory for 2D OB-GYN imaging. Armed with color, doppler, other image-enhancing applications, and a variety of probes, many sonographers and diagnosticians are more than happy to use this system without a clue as to its versatility.
Support and Parts:
Although the HD 11XE is no longer available brand new from the manufacturer, parts and service are still readily available. Many physicians and sonographers may experience concern about the lack of service from the manufacturer. In reality, however, most service done to ultrasound equipment on the market is done via authorized dealers and companies.
Regardless, the service and support for this unit is available, either through AME or another company, is available all the time. The HD11XE can be employed and maintained for many years to come, at a very economical price.
There is always the concern, particularly when it comes to medical equipment, regarding the safety of the devices and the potential side effects that occur as a result of employing these machines.
It is important to know that ultrasound machines are known to be completely harmless. They function through the utilization of sound waves emitting from the probe or transducer. These sound waves are then translated into images by the ultrasound machine or system. There is no need to fear when using ultrasound machines – it is a quick, easy and efficient way to diagnose and help determine a patient’s ails.
