The Sonosite Edge II introduces new technologies that its predecessor, the Edge, lacks. This includes DirectClear technology, which increases penetration and contrast resolution on its newly introduced transducers, also found on the SonoSite SII Point-of-Care touchscreen tablet-style ultrasound machines. Also new on the Edge II is its new and unique Armored Cable Technology, which is designed to protect the strain reliefs from breaking down after prolonged use. Cables often become strained after years of use, such as being rolled over with the cart, stepped on, and general use from strain on the cable.
The Edge II is a shared service ultrasound that is engineered with 2D/PW/CW/Color Velocity Doppler/Power Doppler/Tissue Doppler as well as image optimization technologies including SonoADAPT, SonoHD2, and ColorHD. New to the Edge II include newly designed transducers with a dualflex and thin lens design which increases penetration, clarity and color sensitivity for visualization of vessels and nerves. Some applications that the Edge can project ultrasound images for include but are not limited to abdominal, cardiovascular, stress echo and transcranial, musculoskeletal and small parts, and women's health (OB-GYN, urological, etc), applications for both pediatric and adult patients.
Through a dual-flex and thin lens design, combined with new advancements in image optimization, the HFL38xi was enhanced to increase penetration, clarity and color sensitivity. You can now better visualize nerves and vessels, whether it be for procedural guidance or flow analysis.
Compatible with an ultrasound cart, the Sonosite Edge II portable ultrasound system can be utilized as a portable system to be employed in emergency medical scenarios. With the cart, on the other hand, the Edge II can be converted to a stationary, more secure ultrasound system. Due to the Edge II's similar engineering to the Edge, many of the probes or transducers that are compatible with one unit function with the other.
