About Ultrasounds: Philips CX50

Philips ultrasound; one of the leaders and most reputable brands in healthcare, had been manufacturing this beloved ultrasound for over a decade. The CX50 is best known for being a high quality and diverse portable ultrasound system.

Popular Applications:

The CX50 is most commonly used for cardiac and vascular imaging. Philips Healthcare, as an ultrasound manufacturer, has an outstanding reputation for developing quality cardiovascular imaging technologies. The system has the potential to employ strain technology, elastography, 3D cardiac studies, TEE (transeophageal) and other premier cardiac applications.

Regarding vascular imaging, the system is popular for MSK imaging, needle-guided imaging, small parts, peripheral vascular, and more! The system is compatible with a few linear probes, including a high-frequency hockey stick transducer; the L15-7io probe.

Other Applications:

Despite being very popular for cardiac and vascular studies, many doctors and sonographers also utilize the CX50 for OB-GYN studies, general studies (abdominal, livers, kidneys, small parts), and veterinary imaging.

For example, the C8-5 micro-convex probe is used for pediatric studies, veterinary studies, and more. The C10-3v endocavitary probe is utilized for gynecology and urological imaging and applications.

Probe Compatibility:

Various generations of Philips probes are compatible with different units. For example, the IU22 and IE33 probes are interchangeable.

The probes that work with the CX50 are also compatible with some of the most premier and quality ultrasound systems on the market. The Epiq series (Epiq 5, Epiq 7, Epiq Elite) and the Affinity series (Affinity 30, Affinity 50, and Affinity 70). Due to this compatibility, the CX50 probes are both valuable and heavily in demand. An office that has an Epiq unit and a CX50 can swap the probes from one system to the other.

Ultrasound Safety:

There is always the concern, particularly when it comes to medical equipment, regarding the safety of the devices and the potential side effects that occur as a result of employing these machines.

It is important to know that ultrasound machines are known to be completely harmless. They function through the utilization of sound waves emitting from the probe or transducer. These sound waves are then translated into images by the ultrasound machine or system. There is no need to fear when using ultrasound machines – it is a quick, easy and efficient way to diagnose and help determine a patient’s ails.
