While many people, especially private practitioners and independent sonographers, are on a budget - many don’t want to sacrifice quality when it comes to economical units. This concern, coupled with the fear of buying refurbished equipment that may break down within a few years (especially after the warranty expires), makes it difficult to select an ultrasound unit.

Mindray Z60:
The Mindray Z60 ultrasound is the most economical ultrasound that the company has to offer. This unit is generally used for vascular and general imaging. It can be upgraded to capture 3D imaging, as well as cardiac imaging - but the image quality for these additional applications pale in comparison to other systems that specialize in these studies (the Philips CX50 for cardiac, for example, and the GE Voluson for 3D/4D OB-GYN imaging).
If however, you’re looking for a system that can conduct general imaging exams, vascular images, and 2D OB-GYN images, the Z60 will not only provide great quality images, but is economical, brand-new, and with a five year warranty!
Mindray M6
The Mindray M6 has replaced the extremely popular M5 ultrasound machine, with careful upgrades orchestrated by Mindray after many years of feedback.
In addition to being an excellent choice for vascular, abdominal, and 2D OB-GYN imaging, Mindray has finally made it a standard for M6 units to have CW / cardiac on most of their units - something the M5 usually did not have.
For just a few thousand dollars more than a refurbished M5 (which has since officially discontinued by the manufacturer, although there are a wide assortment of technicians who still service this unit), you can upgrade to the brand-new M6. Again, this unit is standard with a 5 year warranty, and is compatible with most of the older transducers, but armed with some of the newest, highest quality probes that Mindray has to offer.
Mindray M8 Elite/M9
The M8 Elites and M9 are the top of the line portable Mindray units. While slightly more expensive than other refurbished options on the market (GE Loqiq E, Philips CX50, Sonosite Edge), these units hold up to their competitors, but with the added value of being brand new, and with a five year warranty.
They are compatible with most advanced probes that Mindray has to offer, including the L10-3s, a probe that Mindray has collaborated with Philips on.
There is always the concern, particularly when it comes to medical equipment, regarding the safety of the devices and the potential side effects that occur as a result of employing these machines.
It is important to know that ultrasound machines are known to be completely harmless. They function through the utilization of sound waves emitting from the probe or transducer. These sound waves are then translated into images by the ultrasound machine or system. There is no need to fear when using ultrasound machines – it is a quick, easy and efficient way to diagnose and help determine a patient’s ails.
